An LHV is an extra long and heavier truck combination of a maximum length of 25.25 meters and a maximum of 60 tons in the Netherlands. Please note that in other countries the laws and regulations regarding LHV differ from the Netherlands. Jumbo Groenewegen is a specialist in the LHV combination, which uses a B-double or a Dolly.
Jumbo Groenewegen is a specialist in the LHV which uses a B-Double or a Dolly. The advantage of an LHV combination is that the fuel consumption hardly increases. This saves a lot of fuel per 1000kg of cargo. For this reason, among other things, LHV is also called the ecocombi. The B-doubles from Jumbo Groenewegen are equipped with a trailing fusee axle to comply with the legal turning circle. The axle is extendable and secured in such a way that it cannot be driven away.
The B-doubles are very robust and user-friendly built. Of course, the B-doubles can be executed in both a curtainside structure and in a plywood superstructure. A B-double from Jumbo Groenewegen can also be supplied as a container chassis.
A Dolly is particularly suitable when your current fleet consists of rigids and trailers. By placing a Dolly between the rigid and the trailer, you can also drive it as a LHV. Jumbo Groenewegen offers 1-axle Dollies and 2-axle Dollies. In addition, you can opt for a Dolly with a high coupling height or a low coupling height.
If you want to drive LHV with two central axle drawbar trailers, Jumbo Groenewegen can provide you with the right type of car.
Driving a LHV is bound by different laws and regulations, whereby the Dutch laws and regulations also differ from other countries. In the Netherlands, some restrictions apply with regard to transport with LHV. It is only allowed to drive on routes released by the RDW and in case of fog or extreme weather conditions, driving is not allowed.
Furthermore, there is a total overtaking ban for an LHV and the driver must have had an extra driving training (and have successfully completed it). In addition, there are a number of technical requirements for an LHV. This is mainly due to the braking system, mirrors, axle load measuring system and mention of extra long transport at the rear of the combination.
